Privacy Policy

Who we are

This policy covers the Spuddler website and app at spuddler.app (“Spuddler”, “we”, “us”). It explains what happens to information when you use it. If anything here is unclear, please get in touch at hello@spuddler.app.

What stays on your device

When you import a CSV, paste numbers, or connect a channel, the data and the analysis built from it are stored in your browser’s local storage on the device you’re using. It is not uploaded to a Spuddler database — there isn’t one. You can clear it at any time from within the app, or by clearing your browser storage, and it is gone.

What is collected, and why

A few features rely on outside services. Here is everything involved:

• Your account — if you sign in, our accounts provider (Clerk) stores the details needed for that, such as your email address. You only have an account if you choose to create one.
• Billing— if you subscribe to Pro, payment is handled by Clerk’s billing. We don’t see or store your card details.
• YouTube data you connect — if you connect your channel, the access needed is sealed inside a secure cookie in your own browser, and the channel figures are fetched to your device for analysis. The server does not keep your YouTube data or tokens at rest.
• Public channel lookups — looking up a public channel sends that request to YouTube’s API to fetch figures that are already public.
• The optional AI takeaway — if you ask for the AI-written summary, the figures behind that summary are sent to our AI provider (xAI) to phrase it in plain words. If you don’t use it, nothing is sent.
• Analytics— we use Vercel’s privacy-friendly analytics to count page visits. It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t identify you.

Google user data

Spuddler’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use YouTube data only to show you the analysis of your own channel, and we never sell it or use it for advertising.

Cookies

We keep cookies to a minimum. If you sign in, your accounts provider sets a cookie to keep you signed in. If you connect a channel, a secure cookie holds that connection. Our analytics does not use cookies. We don’t use cookies for advertising or tracking across other sites.

The services we rely on

Each of these has its own privacy policy covering the part it plays:

• Vercel — hosting and analytics.
• Clerk — accounts and billing.
• Google / YouTube — channel data you connect or look up.
• xAI — the optional AI takeaway.

Your choices

• Clear your imported data from within the app at any time.
• Disconnect a connected channel whenever you like.
• Export your data — it’s yours to take with you.
• Delete your account, which removes the account information held by our accounts provider. Contact us if you need help doing so.

Keeping data, and children

Data in your browser stays until you clear it. Account and billing information is kept by our providers for as long as you have an account, and removed when you close it. Spuddler isn’t directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
